The story is about a fifteen year old boy named Christopher Boome who has Asperger’s syndrom. He is very good with numbers and maths and loves lists, patterns ans the truth. He hates being touched and he has never gone further than the end of the road without anyone else, until one night when he sees his neighbor’s dog dead.
In the middle of the night he finds his neighbour’s dog murdered at the lawn of Mrs. Shears’ house. There is a garden fork sticking out of the dog. He kneels down besides the dog and strokes him. He pulls out the fork and lifts the dog into his arms and hugs him. Mrs Shears comes running out of her house screaming at Christopher. He doesn’t like being yelled at. He lets the dog go and moves away a few meters. He presses his head against the grass while covering his ears.
Then the police arrive and leads Mrs Shears back to her house. The police asks Christopher what had happened. He then asks several of questions which becomes to much information for Christopher. Again he presses his head into the grass but this time the policeman grabs his arms and lifts him to his feet. Christopher doesn’t like being touched so he grabs the fork and hit him.
